How we choose
One thing, really: hair that still looks like yours. The right weight, the right placement, a blend you can't see — and hair that grows out as beautifully as it went in.
So we go looking ourselves. We're after the specialists: the artists who do extensions all day, every day, whose clients have been going to them for years, and who'd rather turn you away than put in something that won't suit your hair.
Every method is welcome here. The best one is whichever suits you.
Technique notes
Each method suits a different density, budget and routine. Your artist will steer you. This is the short version, so the consultation can start further along.
Thin wefts sewn onto a beaded row. Lies flattest against the head, so when the blend is right it's the hardest install to spot. It takes skill and time to place.
Pre-taped wefts sandwiched around your own hair. Fastest to apply and usually the cheapest way in. They show more in very fine hair and need re-taping regularly.
A row of beads with wefts sewn on. No heat and no glue. Built for volume as much as length, and the whole row moves up together at maintenance.
Individual strands bonded to your hair. There's no row to hide, so ponytails and updos are easy. It's also the longest appointment you'll sit for.

FAQ
It depends on method, length and how much hair you need, so there's no single number worth quoting. Most artists will price it in a consultation before you commit, and that consultation is usually free.
In experienced hands, no. It comes down to matching the method and the weight to your own hair, then keeping to the move-up schedule. That's the argument for booking someone who does extensions every day.
The install needs moving up roughly every 6–8 weeks as your own hair grows. The hair itself, looked after properly, can usually be reused for several move-ups before it needs replacing.
Usually yes. Finer hair tends to do best with flatter applications and less weight, and a specialist will design around that. Bring photos of what you're after and let them tell you how to get closest to it.
